Have you ever thought of someone as a superhero? Technically speaking, a superhero is a fictional character with superhuman powers, but is that the only thing that makes someone a superhero?

I can honestly say I don’t read comic books but of the more famous superheroes that come to mind, not all of them put others’ needs before their own. I consider selflessness to be a key factor, even more so than superhuman powers, in what makes up a great superhero.

That is why here at the COA we consider all of our volunteers to be superheroes! We depend on our volunteers and so does our community. Our selfless volunteers are what allow us to offer the needed services to our community. We cannot begin to show them the multitude of gratitude they so deserve.

Coming up on April 28 is National Superhero Day. This day was designated to celebrate your favorite superhero and be thankful for them. We appreciate our COA superheroes, aka volunteers, everyday but unfortunately there is more good to be done than we have volunteers. Will you rise to the occasion and join our superhero team?

Currently our greatest needs are Medical Transportation Drivers and helping out in our Café, but we have many other volunteer opportunities that may interest you. If you would like additional information on our volunteer programs, please visit www.casscoa.org/volunteer-coa or reach out to Danielle Dilts at the COA.

If volunteering isn’t possible at this time, then take this day to give an extra thanks to the many superheroes we are lucky.
