MEAL OPTIONS

Eating a well-balanced diet is necessary for health, functionality, and the ability to remain at home in the community. For older adults, good nutrition can help maintain physical and immune function, prevent and manage chronic disease, support mental wellbeing and recovery from ill-health.  As part of the Cass County COA’s mission to provide services and programs to assist individuals to age and live well with dignity and independence, we provide a number of options to help older adults get the meals and nourishment they need.

Meals on Wheels

in the last year...

The COA has delivered over 14,600 Meals on Wheels to participants in Cass County, and our volunteer drivers have driven over 40,0000 miles to deliver those meals.

Meals on Wheels was one of the first programs established by the Cass County COA. For those who no longer drive, have a reduced appetite or find it hard to prepare a meal, eating right can be difficult.

Nutritionally balanced cold and hot meals are delivered to homebound seniors Monday through Friday. We service all of Cass County- Cassopolis, Dowagiac, Edwardsburg, Jones, Marcellus, Union, & Vandalia. Townships include Calvin, Howard, Jefferson, LaGrange, Mason, Milton, Newberg, Ontwa, Penn, Pokagon, Porter, Silver Creek, Volinia, & Wayne. Meals on Wheels drivers check to make sure the senior is not in need of any additional assistance.  Puree meals also are available with a doctor’s prescription.

The Cass County COA is proud of its many volunteers who coordinate with our professional kitchen staff to deliver hot, nutritious meals to those who request them. For many, the meal is made even more special because a smiling volunteer checks in on them daily.
