Active Living at the COA includes engaging activities, events and programs designed to keep you healthy, active and involved. You can enjoy a weekly card game, chess,bingo or cribbage. There are Bridge tournaments that features fun and include prizes. You can join knitting and quilting groups as well as dancing and sing-a-longs.
Active Living also includes a wide array of fitness programs. You can join the Fitness Center and workout on cardio equipment and in the weight room. If you need specialized attention, our fitness trainers can work with your physician’s recommendations and create a program just for you. Daily exercise classes include everything from chair exercises, more intensive cardio workouts to tai chi, yoga and aqua aerobics.
Special events are a common occurrence at the Cass County COA. Themed meals for traditional holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas are a standard. But you will also find events featuring Mardi Gras, Luaus, Halloween and plenty of live entertainment.
Active Living also coordinates a number of intergenerational programs including Pen Pals, Camp Safe Kids and the annual Grand Festival.
The COA also is one of the venues for events such as the Dowagiac Candle Light Christmas Parade, the Harvest Festival, Summer in the City and the annual Dogwood Fine Arts Festival.
