Paintings come together in a traveling exhibition that displays the work of seven local artists. Each artist created a painting that captures the majesty of the local Historic Newton House and its surroundings.

The Newton House, located in Marcellus, was designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1974. It is significant as the home of prominent civic leader George Newton, the son of Cass County pioneer Col. James Newton. Both father and son served as members of the Michigan House of Representatives in the 1800s. In 1931, Fred Russ purchased the house and the surrounding 580-acre parcel, then gifted the land to MSU in 1942.

Paintings will be displayed at the Lowe Center in Cassopolis from January through March. Be sure to stop in to view these beautiful works of art.
