The COA is partnering with the Minority Coalition & Social Justice Alliance of Cass County to commemorate the 2026 theme, “A Century of Black History Commemorations.” This theme marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of Black History Month by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) and highlights the significance and impact of Black history commemorations in advancing understanding and progress for Black communities.
The featured speaker will be Danielle Lucas, who works in Financial Aid at Southwestern Michigan College and serves on the Dowagiac City Council as the newly appointed Mayor Pro Tem.
Attendees will also hear from Christopher Korenowsky, Director of the Cass District Library, who will share information about library resources and events planned for February, as well as provide updates on the new Edwardsburg Library.
There will also be a book giveaway/raffle.
