The COA would like to recognize TWO mothers that were nominated by family members for our “Nominate your Mom” contest.  Thank you all for your submissions!  We had such a hard time selecting just one that we decided to honor two Moms.  Each mom received a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers from Booth’s County Florist and a one pound assortment of chocolate from Caruso’s Candy and Soda Shop.

Carol Young of Jones was nominated by her sister Linda Brossman.  Carol was the oldest of 6 children and helped her mother care for her siblings.  She raised 3 children of her own along with 3 step children, and now as a grandmother, Carol has adopted 2 of her grandchildren.  She has always been a mother to someone.

Julie Darrigan of Dowagiac was nominated by her daughter Jamie Trader.  Julie has the biggest heart and always thinks of others before herself.  While maintaining a full time career in the medical field, Julie found time to take care of her father that had suffered from a stroke, her husband that became ill for an extensive time, and eventually her mother that had bone cancer.  Julie’s entire life has been based around helping others.  Her daughter believes God placed her here to love and care for people.

Thank you to Carol and Julie for your selfless acts of kindness in caring for and raising your families.  Our community is blessed to have you both.
